To be successful in a Distance Learning course requires a student to have a high level of self-motivation, be able to read and understand directions, learn material without direct guidance of a local teacher, be proactive in his/her own education, ask questions of the teacher, and seek local help when needed. Successful DL students check into their class site daily and are willing and able to ask questions via computer, telephone, and instant messaging. The local facilitator will be sure that all the technological and resource requirements are taken care. Priority for enrollment is given to small schools and to seniors, who need the courses for graduation.
